A few days ago, the Cádiz Advanced Manufacturing Center (CFA) participated in the 10th Business Breakfast hosted by the Cádiz Maritime and Naval Cluster, an event at which Francisco Javier Romalde Quintana, the CFA’s head of operations, shared the center’s vision, capabilities, and objectives as a strategic infrastructure for industrial innovation in Andalusia.

During his remarks, he highlighted the CFA’s public-private partnership model, designed to connect technology, industry, and people, and to facilitate the transfer of knowledge among government agencies, large companies, small and medium-sized enterprises, universities, and technology centers. This ecosystem serves as the foundation upon which the CFA drives innovation projects aligned with the real needs of the industrial sector.

Located in Puerto Real (Cádiz), the CFA features an industrial facility of more than 1,700 m², coworking offices, and over 18.3 million euros invested in equipment, enabling companies to access advanced industrial resources without having to make their own initial investment. This approach facilitates the execution of R&D projects, the validation of technologies, and the improvement of production processes.

The center organizes its activities into four major technological areas: additive manufacturing, robotics and automation, metrology and digitization, and drones. For example, in the area of additive manufacturing, the center has technologies capable of working with thermoplastic polymers and resins as well as metals, enabling the production of everything from large-format parts to high-precision components. Meanwhile, the metrology and digitization area offers solutions for measurement, 3D scanning, and dimensional verification, which are essential for ensuring the quality and traceability of industrial developments.

During the conference, it was also explained how companies can collaborate with the CFA—whether through the use of industrial equipment, the use of production space, technical consulting, or the operation of specialized machinery—always with the goal of increasing the technology readiness level (TRL), accelerating innovation, and improving industrial competitiveness.

The CFA’s participation in this forum has served to reinforce its role as a leading center for the maritime-shipbuilding sector and other industrial sectors, and to continue bringing advanced manufacturing and technological innovation to the business community of the province and Andalusia.
